Training

The Three Parts of ADI Qualification

ADI Part 1 — Theory Test

Duration: Approx. 2 hours • Pass mark: 85/100 multiple choice + 57/75 hazard perception

Multiple-choice test (100 questions) and hazard perception test. Covers road law, vehicle safety, driving theory and the Highway Code.

ADI Part 2 — Practical Driving Test

Duration: Approx. 1 hour • Pass mark: Examiners discretion — clean drive required

You are examined on your own driving ability to a higher standard than a regular driving test. Assessed on vehicle control, road awareness and defensive driving.

ADI Part 3 — Instructional Ability Test

Duration: Approx. 1 hour • Pass mark: Grade A or B (out of A–F)

Demonstrate your ability to instruct a pupil at the appropriate level. Assessed over two test phases — novice pupil and trained pupil scenarios.

With RED you can earn as you qualify on a Trainee Licence — our flexible fast track option gives you the option to speed things up and fit the training in with your busy schedule.
