Take control with RED's Skid Experience

Think you'd know what to do if your car suddenly lost grip on a wet or icy road? RED's Skid Experience is designed to give you the skills and the confidence to handle exactly that.

This dynamic driving session teaches you how to manage a vehicle in slippery, low-traction conditions in a completely safe and controlled environment. Using a specially treated track surface at Donington Park, we realistically replicate challenging road conditions without any real-world risk, and we're confident drivers will leave Donington Park a better, safer road user.

After a short safety briefing, you'll head to our dedicated skid area for the practical session. You'll discover what actually causes a vehicle to skid, experience the sensation of losing grip on ice or water, and most importantly learn the correct techniques to regain control quickly and safely.

It's eye-opening, confidence-building and genuinely enjoyable. By the end of your session, you won't just understand skidding – you'll know exactly how to handle it.

What do I need to know?

Minimum age is 17 years
Minimum height is 1.4 metres
Please wear comfortable clothing and a pair of trainers that you will not mind getting dirty
In wet weather a change of clothes is advisable
There will be a maximum of 2 other participants in the vehicle with you
This experience will last approximately 1½ hours
All dates are subject to availability

What's included?

Introduction and safety briefing with a fully trained instructor
Approximately 1½ hours in the car, learning from both the driver's seat and the passenger seat, under the watchful eyes of our experienced skid trainers.

Participants should be in reasonable health

Licence Requirements

The Skid driving course is suitable for all types of drivers, and because it's RED-owned, we're also able to run the course for those who have yet to pass their driving test. But, if that's the case, we insist that the driver is currently trained to a level where competent with car control. We will need evidence of this from a driving instructor.

Guests

Guests will be unable to spectate this activity. However, they will be able to wait at the reception area or use the 'public' café on-site when open.

Buy a skid experience voucher by calling the RED team or by clicking the 'Book Now' button to buy online. We'll then send an e-voucher and booking information to you or directly to the recipient. Please note, buying an e-voucher online does not secure the skid experience – yourself or the participant can call the team to book the day and time.

The voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of issue, and the experience must be booked before the expiry date.

Yes, our skid courses run throughout the year. It is a valuable skill that can be taught anytime, but may be most useful in the winter when it is snowing and icy.
